Jerry Thomas Richards, 85, of Denton, Texas passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family.

Born to Roy C. and Willia Mae Richards, Jerry was a devoted husband to Clara Faye Howard Richards for an incredible 65 years. Their enduring partnership was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Clara; his children Mike Richards (Anna), Lisa Quinones, and Sam Richards (Joyce); his brother Roy Dean Richards; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a proud grandfather to Amber (Jayson) Hodges, Courtney Richards, Katherine (Jacob) Behning, Patrick Covey, Natalie (Ken) Thomas, Tiffany (Norman)Carriaga, and Tara (Juan) Aguirre. Jerry's legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Hunter & Levi Hodges, Maddie Weaver, Lena & Luke Behning, Jonah & Nathan Thomas, and Macy & Mia Carriaga.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Billy Richards, and his son Timothy Howard Richards.

A man of many passions, Jerry was an avid fisherman and fast-pitch softball player in his younger years. He was a die-hard fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, celebrating with great joy when the Rangers clinched their first World Series Championship in 2023.

Jerry's faith was a cornerstone of his life. For many years, he lent his voice to the Church Choir at First Baptist Denton and participated in their annual 4th of July musical presentations, even taking on the role of Uncle Sam on occasion. His other interests included coin collecting and amassing an impressive collection of ball caps.

In his later years, Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of life – sorting through his beloved coin collection, watching sports and game shows, and cherishing visits from his family.

Jerry Thomas Richards will be remembered for his fierce love of family, his unwavering faith, and his kind and generous spirit. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 11, 2024 with services beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to VNA Hospice of Denton County in Jerry's memory.
