Jerry Wayne Smith, 74, of Hickory Creek, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Denton. He was born December 10, 1941 in Dallas to Maynard and Lorene Schoppaul Smith. He graduated from Denton High School and was a member of Lake Dallas Church of Christ. He was self-employed as a horse trainer. He married Candy McKnight on November 30, 1968 in Wareka, OK.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 6 – 8 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Thursday, April, 7, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Mr. Ben Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Swisher Cemetery in Lake Dallas.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Candy of Hickory Creek; daughters, Rhonda Tekell of Denton, Candice Hunter of Krum, Jessica Allen of Dallas, and 7 grandchildren.
