Jimmie Dee Bickley 100 of Denton peacefully passed away Monday morning, May8, 2017 at the Willow Bend Assisted Living Center. She was born in Lake Dallas (Little Garza) on November 16, 1916 to Robert Anderson Batterton and Martha Eliza Whited Batterton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Jeff Bickley. Dee was an active member of the First United Methodist Church were she was a member of the Bungalow Sunday School Class and she volunteered in the Church Library.
During her professional career she was employed by Russell Newman Manufacturing and Texas Instruments, she was a bookkeeper for her husbands, Jeff Bickley's construction company during which time she earned her private pilots licenses.
Dee enjoyed traveling with Jeff in their motor coach to places like Mexico, Alaska and New York. Dee also enjoyed sewing, oil painting, water skiing and Bible Study. She touched many lives and was an inspiration to all.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. prior to the 11:00 a.m. service at Cole Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Denton with Rev. Deana Mason officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
She is survived by; daughters, Pat and husband Tommy Caruthers, Martha Durham, grandchildren, Robert Durham and wife Sandy, Kathy Adams and husband Terry, Debbie Davis and husband Kelly, Tommy Caruthers Jr. and wife Keri, 12 great grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Bill Bickley, grandson, Colin M. Caruthers, son in law, Don T. Durham, sisters, Bertha Dial, Nita Johnson, Leona Kuykendall, brothers, Carl and Arvel Batterton.
