Jimmie D. Briggs passed away on Monday, April 30th. He was born April 12, 1923 in Denton Texas. He leaves behind his wife Geraldine Switzer Briggs whom he married October 4th, 1942.


Jimmie worked for HS Osborne Grocery Company for 42 years.


Survivors include daughter Cheryl Crenshaw and husband Bud of Euless, Texas, son D'Wayne Briggs and wife Judy of Queen Creek, Arizona. Brother Oliver Briggs & wife Ann and sister Jo Welborne all of Denton, Texas. Brother-in-law Bill Switzer and wife Elena of Plano and sister-in-law Mary Fowler.


Grandchildren Brigitte Brewer (Joe) of Corinth, Chris Kubala (Denise) of Prosper, Texas, JoElayne Jones (Jared) of Arizona, Todd Grissom (Kathie) of Arizona, Kevin Grissom (Kristin) of Arizona.


Great-grandchildren are Nichole Bridges, Kindle & Mikaela Brewer, Zachery & Morgan Kubala, Ashley, Jacob & Hayden Jones, Shelbie & Jacie Grissom, Baylee, Paige & Kash Grissom. He also had many nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his father, Clifford Briggs, mother Lulu Bush Briggs, stepmother Ruby Davis Briggs, brothers Tommy Ray, Johnny and sisters Nancy Porter, Mildred Beachamp and Helen Marie.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 5-8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
