Jimmie Anderson Gibson, (RET) Lt. Col, USAF passed away in Denton, Texas on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was born in El Dorado, AR on May 6, 1928, to Oscar and Ruth Coleman Gibson.
Jimmie was raised in multiple towns in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. He graduated high school in Winnsboro, Louisiana. After serving, in the Navy and Army, he attended, the Air Force ROTC program and graduated from East Texas Teachers College in Commerce, Texas. After his retirement from the Air Force, he earned his Master's Degree at East Texas State University in Texarkana, Texas.
Jimmie served as a seaman in the U.S. Navy during World War II, U.S. Army as an enlisted man following World War II and then served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a Lt. Colonel after 28 years of service.
Jimmie enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and softball.
He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar Gibson and Ruth Mund, brothers Coleman Gibson, Fred Gibson, Jerry Gibson, and wife Jo Gibson.
Jimmie is survived by his son, Glen Gibson and wife Angie, daughter, Beth Davis and husband Jim, four grandchildren, Ben Gibson, Christy Sayer, Katy Dingman, and Andrea Petty, and seven great-grandchildren, Jay, Cole, Elizabeth, Liam, Anderson, Ethan, and Wyatt.
Interment arrangements will be on December 29, 2023 at 9:30 am in the D/FW National Cemetery.
His memorial service will then be held on December 30, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.
