Jimmy Don Gowan, 63, passed away on August 28, 2016. He was born December 30, 1952 in Jacksboro, Texas to H.R. and Ima Jean Edwards Phillips Gowan.
Jimmy lived most of his life in Jacksboro. He loved the ranch and loved his many friends there. His great sense of humor, his love for the Texas Rangers, his wonderful laugh and his famous slow southern Texas drawl will be deeply missed.
Jimmy was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro and attended high school in Jacksboro. He also attended Texas Tech and North Texas State University in Denton. He was the owner of Water Excellence in Possum Kingdom with his partner and wife, Janey.
Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Monna Whitney Gowan – Payne and her husband, Keath of Seabrooke, Tx. Neely Eugenia Gowan of Lufkin, Tx, brother in law, David Turnipeed of Floresville, Texas, cousin and care-giver, Kurt Schmitz of Flower Mound, Eric Schmitz of Turtle Creek, aunts, Vonnie Edwards, Maxine Edwards and Frances Edwards, nieces, Keely Aust and Erin Turnipeed, numerous cousins, 1 great niece and 2 great nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, step-father, Lester Phillips, sister, Mary Martha Turnipeed and wife, Janey Gowan.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro, Texas.
