Jimmy Nicks

Jimmy Ray Nicks, 79, of Denton passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Texas Health Presbyterian-Denton Hospital. He was born October 24, 1946 in Wichita Fallas, TX to Elmer Ray and Frances Etoile Edwards Nicks. Jimmy grew up in Ringold and Henrettia, Texas. He attended school at Henrettia High.

He married Pat Dorris on July 2, 1979 in Canyon, TX. They were members of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Denton.

Jim was a retired Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service. He was an active member of the NALC Union where he was the branch secretary for 40 of his 50 years of membership.

The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Thursday March 5, 2026 from 5-7:00 p.m. for visitation.

A Celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on Friday, March 6th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Nicks of Denton, daughters, Missy Nicks, Andrea and husband Herman Cortez, and Jennifer Thompson. He also leaves behind his sister, Molly Hoff and 2 nephews, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
