Joan Mohon Cohagen, 92, of Denton, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 31, 2025. She was born to James Edward "Ed" & Eva Mae (Morris) Mohon on July 2, 1933. She grew up in the Rockhill community and attended Aubrey schools. She was one of 10 children. She married John Mark Cohagen on April 9, 1977 in Denton, Texas. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church, Denton.
She was a successful real estate investor and property manager for over 50 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. She was her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren's biggest supporter and was adored by all.
She is survived by her husband Mark Cohagen; her children, Rick Coleman and wife, Cathy; Patti Coleman Pennington and husband, Mike; Lisa Coleman McCarty and husband, Robbie; Matt Cohagen and wife, Theresa; & Bonus-daughter, Evelyn Coleman Bush. Grandchildren Amie McGinnis & husband Josh, Crystal Trejo, Holli Russell & husband Gregg, Shelli Thorson & husband Richard, Jenifer Haught & husband James, Michael Pennington & wife Holly, Brittany Hatchell & Ryan, Cole McCarty, Jordan Pichanick & Brandon, Ross McCarty & wife Michelle and Maxwell Cohagen. Great Grandchildren Kali Pennington, Skyler Russell, Tanner Trejo, Neely Trejo, Cash Thorson, Luke Russell, Wyatt Pennington, Kami Thorson, Blakely Pennington, Kadi Jo Thorson, Jameson Haught, Creedon McGinnis, Ryder Pennington, Addison Hatchell, Grayson Pichanick, Sutton Hatchell, Hayden Pichanick & Layne Pichanick. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Terry Huntsberger and Mary Mohon and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bud Mohon, Carrell Mohon, Cecil Mohon, BIll Mohon and Jim Mohon; sisters, Veronica Mohon Durden, Ida Mae Mohon Kirby, Lena Faye Mohon Green & Eddene Mohon MIller, Bonus-daughters Joyce Coleman SoRelle and Lois Coleman Ewan and her best friend of 67 years, Judy Hudson.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Denton. Joan will be laid to rest in Belew Cemetery following the service.
