Mary Joanne Looper, 78, of Aubrey passed away Monday, March 24, 2014. She was born May 19, 1935, in Denton to Euell Thomas Lovell and Eunice Ann Pouncey Lovell. She married Charles Benton Looper on September 13, 1952, in Aubrey. She was a loving and faithful wife for over 61 years.
Joanne was a long time member of First Rock Fellowship, formerly Rock Hill Baptist Church. She was dearly loved and respected by her church family. Many saw her as another mother or grandmother. Her love for God's Word and her faithful prayer life made her a blessing and fine example for her church and community. Joanne Looper will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, 2014, from 6 – 8 p.m. at First Rock Fellowship in Aubrey. Funeral service will be Friday, March 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at First Rock Fellowship with Rev. Chris Walden officiating. Burial will follow at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chad Sanders, Bubba Bland, Benton Bland, Harvey Redfearn, Sam Carlock, Colt Looper and Ty Looper.
She is survived by her husband, Charles of Aubrey; daughters; Charlotte Wright, Deborah Sanders and husband Ronny, Vickie Bland and husband Rusty and Lisa Carlock and husband Ron, all of Aubrey; sons, Tommy Looper of Aubrey and John Looper and wife Anette of Sterling OK; sister, Margaret Mays of Aubrey; sister-in-law, Faye Bailey and husband Don; brother-in-law John Looper and wife Debbie; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Jay Wright, daughter-in-law, Debbie Jean Looper and 2 grandchildren, Charley Redfearn and Travis Looper.
