Joanne Ellen Thorson, 86, of Roanoke, Texas passed away on May 26, 2015. She was born on November 23, 1928 to Charles and Minnie (Larson) Hildebrand in Sioux City, Iowa.
She married the late Russell Thorson on July 15, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa and was a member of the Bolivar Baptist Church. She worked for Hawkins Associates in accounts payable before her retirement.

Hobbies included crocheting, cross stitch and sewing. She enjoyed her cats, watching "her" wild birds, and was loved dearly by her granddogs Gunnar and Belle.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Diane (John) Reeves of Georgia, son, Douglas Thorson of Roanoke, grandchildren Syble Bankston, Christopher (Angel) Newman, Richard (Shelli) Thorson, Michael (Lisa) Newman and Jessica (Ryan) Reeves, eleven great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles and Minnie Hildebrand, husband, Russell Thorson, daughter, Deborah Thorson, son, Curtis Thorson, companions Floyd Duling and George Plymale, sister, Helen Salberg, and brother Clifford Iwers.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Dickie Amyx officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle.
