Joe Calvin Bass of Thackerville, OK, passed away January 4, 2021 in Ardmore, OK. Joe was born June 16, 1926 in Vernon, TX to Hubert and Mary Bass. He had one brother and one sister. The family moved to Roanoke, TX when Joe was ten years old. Joe was baptized at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Grapevine by Brother Ed Vinson. Joe joined the Army and served in Alaska after completing basic training. He received an honorable discharge. Joe went into farming with his father and brother after the Army. Joe married Beulah Roberts on July 27, 1962 at Florence Holiness Church in Keller. After farming in the Roanoke area for many years, Joe and Beulah moved to Thackerville, OK where they lived until Beulah's Death in 2011. Joe moved to the Oklahoma Veteran's Center in 2018. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marvin Ray Bass and his sister Mary Evelyn Sanderson.

Joe is survived by nephews Robert and Craig Sanderson and cousins. He is also survived by a lifetime family friend Billye Jo Rains. Joe will be laid to rest beside Beulah at the Parker Cemetery in Grapevine Friday, January 8, 2021 at 2:00pm. DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton is handling the graveside service.
