Joe Ellis Brown, 78, born July 11, 1938 in Denton died peacefully at his home in Sanger on Saturday, February 25, 2017 after a long hard fought battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by close family.

Joe was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Brown, by his 4 children and their families:  Cary Brown and wife Tina of Lago Vista, Gayla (Brown) Choate and husband Brian of Coppell, Marty Brown and wife Ninfa of Krum, and Mitch Brown and wife Carol of Frisco.  He is also survived by his nephew that he considered a son, Lennie Hammonds and wife Brenda of Forestburg.  He was known as Pappy to 8 grandchildren: Brandy (Brown) Singleton, Brooke (Brown) Diaz, Bailey Brown, Madi Jo Brown, Garrett Choate, Connor Choate, Braxton Brown, Brooklynn Brown and 7 great-grandchildren:  Cameron, Cash, Colt, Caris, & Charlie Singleton and Claire & Adam Diaz.   Also, sister Shirley Hilburn of Aubrey and many Nieces and Nephews.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Denton County and paint contractor by trade.  He enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything.

His is proceeded in death by his Father & Mother, Fred William Brown and Louise Brown of Denton.  Also proceeded in death by his 3 brothers:  Buster O'Riley, Fred Brown, and Leo Brown and his 3 sisters:  Christine Richards, Louise Richards, and Pauline Wilkins.

The Family will be at the funeral home Monday night from 6-8:00 pm for visitation.  Funeral Services will be held at Gribble Springs Baptist Church in Sanger on Tuesday, February 28 at 2pm.
