Joe Slone, 76, of Denton went to be with his Heavenly Father, surrounded by his family on October 8th 2018 in Denton, Texas. Joe was born on September 9, 1942 in Corsicana, Texas to Joseph and Tranny Mae (Russell) Slone.
He married Barbara Twomey on August 24, 1963 in Abilene, Texas. Joe will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Joe never met a stranger, always willing to lend a hand and put others first. He was a distinguished cowboy, hardworking business owner, a founder of North Texas BBQ Association, exalted ruler of the Elks lodge (2002-2003), proud patriot and U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Slone of Denton, daughter, Shanna Housden of Aubrey, son, Shane Slone of Denton, brother Thom Slone of West He Columbia, Texas, grandchildren, Brittney Fichera, Bethany Crume, Melanie Whitehead, Brooklin Housden and Panna Slone and six great-grandchildren, Landon, Lane, Lexi, Cash, Hunter, and Rycker.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, infant son, Steven Slone and brother Jay Slone.
A memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
