Obituary

John B. Floyd, Jr., affectionately known as "Jimmy," passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Plains, Montana, following a lengthy illness. Born on August 10, 1941, in Denton, Texas, he was the son of J.B. and Eleanor Case Porter Floyd.

Jimmy was a graduate of Denton High School and went on to attend the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. Upon graduation, he joined his father in the family business, Schmitz-Floyd-Hamlett Funeral Home in Denton. While dedicated to his profession, Jimmy was also a man of many passions; he was an avid outdoors-man who loved fishing, hunting, and gun collecting. At home, he found joy in cooking and was particularly known for baking bread.

Following the passing of his father in 1993, Jimmy eventually retired and fulfilled a dream by relocating to Hot Springs, Montana, a scenic town in the northwestern region of the state known worldwide for its natural mineral hot springs.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Floyd of Hot Springs, MT; his children, Renee Floyd Dalton of Hot Springs, MT, Jeanne Beth Floyd of Santa Fe, NM, John B. Floyd, III of Euless, TX, and Hans Floyd of Hot Springs, MT; four grandchildren, Joshua Bonin, Angelica Lopez, Johnathan Lopez, and Caden Floyd; and one great-grandson, Grayson Lopez. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor, in 1960, and his father, J.B. Floyd, Sr., in 1993.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
