Obituary

John "Scott" Ford of Denton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday March 17, 2017 at the age of 70. Scott was born in Denton , Texas on January 16, 1947 to William R. "Red" Ford and Marvie "Rie" (Dawson) Ford.

He graduated from Denton High School in 1965 and The University of North Texas in 1970. Scott was a proud veteran and served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was a resident of Denton , Texas his entire life and developed many lifelong friendships. He served as a banker in Denton and Lake Dallas for over 20 years. He enjoyed his time spent volunteering on the board of the North Texas State Fair Association and the Denton Lions Club.

Scott is survived by his son, Jason Ford and wife Carly and 2 grandchildren Shelby and Spencer of Dallas, daughter Ashley Slivocka and husband Kris and 2 granddaughters, Addison and Aubrie of Little Elm, brother, Alex Ford and wife Rilda of Westlake, nephew Thomas Ford and wife Elise of Trophy Club, and many cousins, aunt and long time friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, W. R. Ford and Rie Ford.

The family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm . A celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Friday March 24th at 10:30 A.M. , Reverend Roger Hollar will officiate. There will be a private family burial at Blue Mound Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Denton Lions Club or the National Parkinson Foundation.
