John Wayne Gilbreath 75 of Forestburg, Texas passed away at home on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He was born in Denton to Raymond and Vada Griffin Gilbreath. He attended Denton public schools. He married Charleta Thompson on September 8, 2006 in Sanger, Texas.

John lived a life rooted in work and the outdoors. He retired from Peterbilt Motor Company after 33 years where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. John had a deep love for the outdoors, especially whitetail deer hunting and bass fishing, and became highly skilled at both. He proudly harvested his best buck during the 2025 season. John also enjoyed friendly competition earning numerous trophies in both golf and horseshoes over the years.

John is survived by his loving wife, Charleta Gilbreath; his sons Jason Gilbreath and wife, Hazel; Joshua Gilbreath and wife Lori and his cherished grandchildren Grant, Henry, Evelyn, Noah and Lucy. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Devonne Gilbreath.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sisters.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
