John B. Holland, 92 of Roanoke, Texas passed away on July 11, 2016. He was born to Herbert and Duressa Holland on January 20, 1924 in Alabama. He later settled in Roanoke, Tx.
Mr. Holland married Martha Jane Chestnut in Ft. Worth Texas in 1944, she preceded in him death in 1977. Mr. Holland was drafted by the US Army in 1944. He was wounded and received 1 bronze star and two Purple Hearts for his actions in World War 2. He was in the 10th Mountain Division and fought in Italy. He would later retired from the Federal Government where he was a Prison Guard and later became supervisor of maintenance of the Prison.
He is survived by his sons, Brent Holland of Roanoke and Jerry Holland of Justin, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, wife and two brothers, William and Thomas Holland.
The family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 6-8 PM. A graveside service will be held at Finis Cemetery in Jack County, Texas on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. with Ronny Chestnut officiating.
