John Kozura IV, 49, of Ponder, Texas passed away of natural causes on Sunday, July 16, 2017. He was born on June 16, 1968, in Des Moines, Iowa to Dr. John Kozura III and Gerrie (Zilko) Kozura.

John graduated from Denton High School and attended the University of North Texas. Being a fiercely devoted patriot, he proudly served in the Texas Air National Guard for almost a decade as an Avionics and Guidance Systems Technician where he supported navigation and instrument systems for the C-130 aircraft. John's expertise was information systems & technology. He worked as a Network Systems Manager for the Professional Development Institute at the University of North Texas and most recently was employed for 12 years as the Branch Manager for Information Systems for the regional corporate office of the American Institute of CPAs. John's passions were guitars and music and he was a lover of animals.

John is survived by his parents, Dr. John III and Gerrie (Zilko) Kozura, stepson, Rick Kozura, brother, Keith Kozura and his wife Cheryl, sister, Kristine Anne Kozura, nieces, Brittany and Alexandra Kozura, his beloved pugs Mickie and Meadow, and his horses Diamond, Sapphire and Pearl.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John Kozura, Jr., and Anna (Sapp) Kozura, his aunt Marie (Kozura) Scott, his uncle Clarence "Kliney" Kozura, and his maternal grandmother Christine (Belis) Walters.

A public viewing  will occur at DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 West University Drive, Denton, Texas 76201, 940-383-4200, on Monday, July 24, 2017, from 6:00pm -8:00pm. The graveside service will be private.
