Koiner
June 5, 1940 – March 4, 2017
Dr. John H. Koiner, 76, of San Antonio, Texas passed away, after a lengthy illness, Saturday, March 4, 2017. With his last breath, John stepped from his earthy body into the presence of his Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ, home at last. John was a loving father, husband, grandfather and a friend to all.
John was born June 5, 1940 in Denton, Texas to Henry and Verda (Barnes) Koiner and grew up in Krum, Texas. John always was glad to share his experience growing up on the family farm, there. He graduated from Krum High in 1958, North Texas State University in 1962 and entered the U. S. Air Force as a Second Lieutenant.
After a 20 year career as a Special Agent in the Air Force Office of Special Investigation, John retired and earned a PhD from Texas A&M. Then, he entered his second career in Mental Health Counseling, in San Antonio. He and Charlotte owned and operated a Christian-based Counseling Center in San Antonio, for 25 years. John also taught at St Mary's University and UTSA for many years. John was devoted to treating each of his patients and had a passion to train and prepare follow-on Christian-based counselors to minister to future patients. John and Charlotte officially retired in 2015.
John is survived by his wife Charlotte of 53 years, brother, Wylie Koiner, three grandchildren Alec Desrosier and his wife Melanie, Morgan Gillette and Nick Koiner, cousins, nephews and nieces and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his son Michael and daughter Krystal.
A celebration of life service will be held at the DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 W. University Dr., Denton, Texas, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 8 th .
