Obituary

John Edward Kubicek Sr. of Hickory Creek, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in his home, on October 27, 2022. He was born in Pilot Point, Texas on November 20 th ,1940 to parents William and Lula (Lubbers) Kubicek, where he was raised with his two brothers on a farm. He left the family farm in 1959, to faithfully serve in the U.S. Army Special Forces until 1961.

John married his wife, Vera "Earline" Cooper in Irving, Texas in 1969. Together, they raised eight children and built their home in Hickory Creek. John owned and operated a Barber Shop in Dallas for many years, and retired from barbering in Justin, Texas.

When he was not cutting hair, John enjoyed working in the yard, boating, Explorers, hunting, fishing, and family gatherings where he was the head grill master. As the patriarch of a large family, he cultivated the legacy of an honest, hard-working man who always put his family first; the same ethics and morals he instilled in all of his children and grandchildren.

To put it simply: John Kubicek was a man that anyone would be proud to call husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, or friend.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Earline, three daughters, Lori Lea Caldwell and husband Jon (Hinton, OK), Tonya Kubicek Copeland (Hickory Creek, TX), Rebeckah Earline Kubicek (Hickory Creek, TX), his four sons, John Edward Kubicek III and wife Laurie (Grand Prairie, TX), Michael D. Kubicek (Lake Dallas, TX), John Edward Kubicek Jr. and wife Pat (Hartsfield, SC), Robert Glenn Kubicek and wife April (Corinth, TX), his brother, Robert (Bob) Kubicek (Allen, TX), seventeen grandchildren: Christopher, Jeremy, Daniel, Matthew, Garrett, Christine, Crystal, Darren, Hope, Brandon, Brent, Tara, Katelyn, Caley, Coleton, Lexie, and Preston, along with twenty-one great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Stewart Ditton, his brother, William (Bill) Kubicek, his father, and his mother.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
