John C. Langford, 91, of Denton, TX passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2015.
John was born in Hillsboro, TX on October 15, 1923 to the parents of H.C. and Mattie Langford. He married Patricia G. Tobutt of Reigate, Surrey, England on May 5, 1945 in Staffordshire, England. Patricia preceded him in death on December 15, 2013.
John was a loving family man and was delighted to give back to the community. He spent many years volunteering with children both within the church and local schools where his infectious smile and jovial personality filled the hearts of all those he met.
Among John's many humbled life accomplishments were a 32nd Degree Mason and Maslah Shrine, Deacon and Elder at the First Presbyterian Church, past President of the North Texas Square & Round Dance Association, WWII Veteran and retired as a Major with 38 years of combined Army and TX National Guard service.
John was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed painting, but his greatest passion was his family and friends.
John is survived by two daughters Carolyn Stapleton and husband James, and Brenda Howard; six grandchildren, Michael Stapleton and wife Julie, John Stapleton, Stormy Bryce and wife Laura, Star Bryce, Christy Catarino and husband Saul and Kathy Rodriguez and husband David. Thirteen great grandchildren, Brennan, Mason, Zane and Alyssa Stapleton; Ethen, Devon, Mia, Sophia, and Lila Bryce; Jacob and Dylan Catarino; and Xavier and Rosalie Rodriguez.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church (1114 W. University, Denton, TX 76201).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (Website: support.woudedwarriorproject.org) or a veterans service organization of your choice.
