John Wesley Stewart, 85, of Denton, passed away Monday, November 09, 2015 in Denton. He was born January 20, 1930 in Aubrey to Marvin and Lillie Mae Haynie Stewart. He married his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Pearl Lockhart in July of 1949. He and Wanda celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past July. They had one daughter, Vicki Lynn Myers and husband Gary; one granddaughter, Kimberly Michelle Laseter and husband Jason; 3 great grandchildren, James Grayson Laseter, Jackson Stewart Laseter and Abigail Grace Laseter, and sister, Mildred Morrow and numerous nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S Air Force for 4 years as Staff Sargent stationed in Dover, Delaware. He retired from Denton County Electric Co-op, now CoServ, after 38 years of service as office manager.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at 2:00 in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
