John "Jack" Thomas Deines, passed away on August 28, 2017 in Denton, Texas at the age of 80. He was born on August 19, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri and adopted by Joseph and Gladys (Farrell) Deines.

Jack grew up in Junction City, Kansas and attended St. Xaxier's Catholic School from K-12 ^th grade.  He graduated from St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana. While studying Latin in summer school at Kansas University, he met Beverly Jane Brown and they married on January 29, 1965 in Beaumont, Texas.

He then received his master's degree from Miami University (Ohio) and his Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He was a psychologist in private practice in Denton for over 25 years.  Being a psychologist suited him well as he inevitably learned the life story of everyone he met.

Jack was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the I.C.C. Knights of Columbus, and the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis Club. He was known as "W5JD" by the Denton County Amateur Radio Association, and loved attending UNT basketball and TCU football games.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Sara Jane Deines, son, George Thomas Deines and wife Kasey, grandsons, Reese and Graham, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Jane Deines and his parents.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Good Samaritan Denton Village, The Village at Valley Creek, and Alpha Omega Hospice for their loving care of Jack during his journey with dementia.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 6-8 P.M. with rosary set at 6:30 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Thursday August 31, 2017 at 2:30 P.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
