IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John
Thompson
April 23, 1943 – February 2, 2021
John W. Thompson, 77, passed away on February 2, 2021, at his home in Denton surrounded by his family. He was born in Denton to Hazel and Blake Thompson on April 22, 1943, and grew up with 8 siblings in the area.
"Little John" served as a Denton firefighter for 28 years before retiring in 2001. He remained active in the community through the Lion's Club and Fil-Am Association and spent his retirement working as a census taker, postal worker, and bus driver. In 1986, John married his beloved wife Crispina and together they owned a thrift store in Denton for over 13 years.
Although he was often stubborn, John was known for playing pranks and telling tall tales. Those who knew John always spoke of his humor and generosity. He was quick to support those in need and taught the value of independence and perseverance to his children and younger siblings. Everywhere he went, John found someone to befriend or exasperate.
John is survived by his wife of 35 years Crispina; children Brian, Cindy, and Jackie; siblings Donna, Billy, and Ted; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm, Tuesday February 9 at the DeBerry Funeral Home with burial at the Roselawn Cemetery. Those attending will be required to wear masks.
