John Darryl Wilkerson I, 64, of Denton passed on May 9, 2016 in Denton. He was born on February 6, 1952 in Santa Barbara, CA to James Thomas Wilkerson and Billie Hollen Landrum Wilkerson. He was married to the late Ruth Elayne Ganske.

He was in the U.S. Army and later joined the Marines. He served in the Vietnam War as a Marine. All who knew him knew he was a very proud Marine. He always wore his Marine cap and shirt. He loved his family.

John is survived by three sons, John Wilkerson II and wife Amber of Gainesville, Mike Wilkerson and wife Misti of Fort Worth, Jake Wilkerson and wife Kendall of Denton, two sisters, Lisa Odell, Vicki Higareda and ten grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Visitation will be Monday May 23, 2016 at 10:00 to 11:00 A.M prior to service at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton. Funeral will be Monday May 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will be at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
