IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnny Parris
Guest
May 12, 1943 – August 20, 2021
On Friday, August 20, 2021, Johnny Parris Guest, longtime Denton County lawman, passed away at the age of 78 after a brief illness.
Johnny was born in Fort Worth in 1943 to Lewis and Billie Reece Guest. He earned a History degree in 1972 from Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, and he had a 40 year law enforcement career, most of it in Denton County as a District Attorney's investigator and as a Lieutenant of Internal Affairs at the Denton County Sheriff's Office.
He married Charlotte Menger in 1967, and they had two sons, Matt and David. He married Holly Berry in 2002 and gained two step-children, Megan and Roy.
Johnny was a scholar of both history and firearms, an avid reader, and an ever-curious seeker of knowledge. Though he was often known for his stoic nature, he was tremendously kind, fiercely loyal, hilariously witty, and an enthralling storyteller.
Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry, and his step-son, Roy. He is survived by his wife Holly, his sons Matt and David, his daughter-in-law Chris, his granddaughters Allie and Dale, his step-daughter Megan, a niece and nephew, sister-in-law, and several cousins.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 24th from 6-8 p.m., and a funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 25th at 3 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors of Denton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stanfield Masonic Lodge of Denton, TX.
