Johnny William Wheat, 77, of Shady Shores, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on December 24, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Born on March 24, 1947 Columbus, Mississippi he was the son of William Albert and Willie Louise (Wilson) Wheat. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and his son Joseph Ford Wheat.
Johnny graduated from Southside High School, Jackson TN in 1965. Johnny also served in the Army and Army Reserve for a total of 13 years.
Johnny owned and operated Personal Touch Minute Lube for over 40 years.
Johnny had so much love for life, helping others no matter how big or how small the task, Johnny was always there to help his fellow man. Johnny also enjoyed being outdoors doing activities such as fishing, boating, gardening, working with his hands, sitting on the back porch admiring the birds, and traveling to Tennessee to be with his siblings and their families playing dominoes. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his beloved family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 43 years, Sara, and a loving father to his children: Cindy Wilson and husband Colen of Nolanville, Texas, Joe Wheat, Thea Ricer and husband Kevin of Argyle, Texas, and Jonny Newell and wife Diane of Keene, Texas, and special friend, Martha Arterberry. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren: Clayton, Justin, Charlie, Natalie, Naomi, Nadia, Diego, and great granddaughter Rori.
Johnny is also survived by his sister Cynthia Gross of Medon, TN. and two brothers, Billy and Tommy Wheat of Jackson TN., along with sister-in-law Janie Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to VNA, Ann Haven's Hospice.
Johnny was known for his honesty, dependability, his amazing love of neighbors, and willingness to help everyone. Johnny touched the lives of many in the Lake Cities Community with his wisdom, genuine kindness and encouraging words. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors and all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held Saturday January 4th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Thousand Hills Church, Hickory Creek, TX. 75065
