Obituary

Jois Elizabeth Martin Ross, 80, of Denton, passed away on Tuesday, June 18. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 19, 1943, to Gebhard & Lois Martin. Jois graduated with honors from Wichita Falls Sr. High School in 1961 and went on to study Music Education at Hardin Simmons University and the University of Michigan in Flint, Michigan. She married her high school sweetheart, James (Alan) Ross, in Wichita Falls, Texas on June 16, 1962. Alan predeceases her in death. For a span of 40 years, she and her husband moved with his career advancements to several states which offered them many opportunities to see the country and do many life-changing things.

Jois had a great love for God and served Him daily. She was a dedicated member of New Life Church, Robson Ranch, where she had served as leader of the church ladies' group. She wrote and presented many of the programs given at these meetings and assisted her beloved husband on the tech team. Her pastor, Jeff Fairchild, will be officiating her service, being held at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton on Saturday, June 29, beginning at 10am, with interment following at Crestview Memorial Cemetery, Wichita Falls.

Church pianist, Judy Fairchild, and soloist, Sherry Zeise, will provide the music for her service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the New Life Church, Children's Ministry Scholarships, 1350 Milam Road East, Sanger, Texas 76266 may be made in her memory.

Jois was fond of cooking and shared many of her meals with others she cared about. She was interested in travel, music and quilting, and explored new horizons within these interests.

She is survived by her brother, Ken Martin; nephews, Kevin Martin, wife Kelli, and son Kolby; Brian Martin, wife Jena, and sons Cab, Caden, and Solomon; Brad Martin, wife Amy, and children Ellie, Jack, and Annie; and nieces Christi, Debbie, and Kati Kurkjian; uncles, aunts, and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, and sister-in-law Carole Martin.

Jois' smiling face, loving and giving personality will be sorely missed. She made a mark of love and kindness on the hearts of all those she touched. She and her devoted husband exemplified and modeled God's ideal marriage with much devotion and love.
