Jon Tillman Milstead went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at his home in Denton, Texas.

Tillman was born on March 26, 1984, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Jon Milstead and Terri Steigleder. Tillman attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary, Strickland Middle, and Billy Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. While at Ryan, Tillman was a key member of the school's first football state championship team in the fall of 2001.

After high school, Tillman attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. During and after college, Tillman was a beloved member of the staff of Johnny Carino's in Denton, and Texas Roadhouse in Wichita Falls and Prosper.

His servant heart was never at rest, which led him into the field of law enforcement. Tillman was a trusted, respected, and loved officer of the Denton County Jail, and later the Denton County Sheriff's Department.

In 2015, Tillman met the love of his life, Brittany. Nobody on this earth could light up Tillman's world quite like she could. They were married in March of 2016, and Tillman faithfully and dutifully stood by her side and cared for her until she lost her battle with brain cancer in December of the same year.

Tillman was one of a kind. He was a friend to all, loved by many, and cherished by even more. He loved the Oklahoma Sooners, his friends and family, and being a positive role model to everyone he interacted with. He loved to laugh that infectious, memorable laugh around anyone that would tell him a joke or a funny story.

The most important challenge for anyone that walks this earth is to "leave it better than you found it." Tillman passed that test with flying colors, and we are all better for knowing him.

Tillman is survived by his mother, Terri Steigleder, his stepfather, Nick Turkoly, sister Jennifer Nelsen and her children, Emily and Jake. Grandparents Barbara and Charles Chittum, uncle Smith Andrew Steigleder, cousin Smith Alec Steigleder and his wife, Sarah, along with their children Graham and Hayes, and his stepmother, Betty Milstead.

Tillman is preceded in death by his beloved wife Brittany, his cherished younger sister Emily, and his father, Jon Milstead. He is also preceded in death by his brother in law, Erik Nelsen, grandfather Tommy Steigleder, grandparents Henry and Eva Milstead, and great grandparents Mr. And Mrs. Tillman Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 24th at 2pm at the New Life Church in Sanger, TX, located at 1350 Milam Rd. E.
