IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jose
Gonzalez
March 28, 1958 – April 7, 2025
Jose Gonzalez passed away at his home in Denton on April 7, 2025. He was born on March 28, 1958, in Comonfort, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Jose Gonzalez San Vicente and Imelda de Santiago Naranjo.
Jose graduated from La Universidad de Guanajuato in 1980 with a degree in architecture. From 1981 to 1996, he worked on numerous projects throughout Mexico, including in Veracruz and Querétaro. His final project in Mexico was a seven-phase development at La Universidad de Celaya, where he served as the lead designer. For phases five through seven, he collaborated with the Denton-based architecture firm Kirkpatrick Architect Studio to complete the project.
During this time in his career, Jose met his wife, Ma Teresa Gonzalez, in 1988 in Celaya, Guanajuato. They were married on April 28, 1990. In October 1990, they welcomed their son, Jose Manuel Gonzalez, and in August 1994, their daughter, Ana Teresa Gonzalez, was born.
In 1996, as he was finishing his project with La Universidad de Celaya, Jose was offered an opportunity to join Kirkpatrick Architect Studio in Denton, Texas—a moment that would shape the course of his life and the future of his family. He accepted the role, and together, he and Teresa took a leap of faith, saying goodbye to the life they had built in Mexico to pursue the American dream. Jose's decision to move to the United States was rooted in his deep commitment to providing the best possible future for his children. He approached the journey with humility, optimism, and a tireless work ethic. Jose was a humble and respectful man who never cut corners, always choosing to do things the right way—even when it was the harder path. His family was always his first priority, and every decision he made was grounded in love and a deep sense of responsibility. Jose continued to work with Kirkpatrick Architect Studio for 22 years.
In 1997, just a year after settling in Denton, Jose and Teresa welcomed their third child, Victoria Azucena Gonzalez—a daughter who completed their family and became a part of the new life they were building together in the United States.
Jose loved the simple things in life—being outside, fishing, and working with his hands. He enjoyed painting flowers and landscapes, and he was the kind of man who could build or fix just about anything. He enjoyed watching Dallas sports and was always cheering for the Cowboys, Rangers, and Mavericks. Above all, his favorite place was wherever his family was gathered—those were the moments he treasured most.
Jose is survived by his wife, Ma Teresa Gonzalez; son, Jose Manuel Gonzalez, and wife, Andrea Rubio Gonzalez, of Dallas, TX; daughter, Ana Teresa Gonzalez, of Grand Prairie, TX; daughter, Victoria Azucena Gonzalez, of Dallas, TX; grandson, Aaron Nathaniel Lemons Jr., of Grand Prairie, TX; grandson, Jude Christopher Gonzalez, of Dallas, TX; and granddaughter, Olivia Josephine Gonzalez, of Dallas, TX.
