Joseph Vulpitta, 77 of Denton Texas, passed away of accidental death on August 17, 2014 in his home.
Joe was born on July 29, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Vincent Vulpitta and Anna Pisagone Vulpitta. Joe grew up in Chicago and moved to the St. Anne, IL area where he met and married the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Linda Flowers Vulpitta. He and his wife moved to Denton, Texas to be close to their children and grandchildren in 1992. In 1997 he and a partner, Jaime Ham opened J &J's on the Square, where he thrived and become a big part of the community, surrounding businesses and was friends to many local people of the Denton area. Joe had an enormous heart and made an impact on many lives. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and friend. He was loved and adored by many and will be dearly missed. Joe was a talented chef, loved history and sports, enjoyed bowling with his sons and grandsons and looked forward to family gatherings. He loved his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Vulpitta Gronewold and husband David; sons, Joseph Jr. Vulpitta and wife Ann, Russ Vulpitta and wife Tracy; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sisters, Anna Vulpitta Thorenton and Madaline Landroche; and brothers, Anthony and Leroy Vulpitta. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Flowers Vulpitta; parents, Vincent and Anna Piscane Vulpitta; brother, Ralph Vulpitta; and sisters, Antoinette Germain and Phyllis Jackson.

The service will be held on Sunday August 24, 2014 at 2:30 pm. at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors , 2025 W. University Drive, Denton, Texas 76201.
A gathering for all family and friends will immediately follow after the service at J & J's Pizza on the Square, 118 W. Oak St., Denton, Texas 76201.
