Joy Lambert Wood passed away on July 24, 2017 in Denton , TX .  She was born on August 20, 1926 to Harve and Nell Lambert in Wapanucka , OK .

Joy married William Martin Wood on July 3, 1944 .  Early in her adult life she worked for several years as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Fort Worth .  After the birth of her only child, Seth Lambert Wood in 1951, Joy made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom.  In 1994 Bill and Joy moved from Fort Worth to Denton .  Joy was a long time member of Southmont Baptist Church in Denton and loved to read and study the Bible.  She also was a Huge fan of Elvis and truly loved the color pink.

Joy is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William Martin Wood and her brother, Jerry Lambert.

She is survived by her son, Seth Wood and her daughter-in-law Tricia Wood.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 , 2:00 P.M. at Southmont Baptist Church .  Burial will be Monday, August 7, 2017 , 1:00 P.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Wapanucka , OK .
