IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce Ann
Edmundson
December 14, 1931 – January 9, 2021
On January 9, 2021, Joyce Ann Edmundson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away in her sleep after a brief battle with Covid-19 while in the care of Good Samaritan-Denton Village. She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia on December 14, 1931.
Joyce was raised in Charleston, West Virginia by her parents, Rex and Dorothy Keener. A graduate of Charleston High School, Joyce pursued a career as an executive secretary. On March 19, 1952, Joyce married her brother's best friend and neighbor, Thomas J. Edmundson Jr. at Fort Sam Houston. Tom's business led them to Detroit, Michigan where she was employed at Mt. Clemens High School as the Executive Assistant for the Assistant Principal.
Upon semi-retirement, Tom and Joyce moved to Denton, Texas to be closer to their only child, Audrey Staniszewski (Spouse-Ray) and her three grand-daughters. Joyce worked as the TWU Visitor and Information Booth Attendant at Texas Woman's' University for many years and received the TWU Division of Student Life Unsung Hero Award in 2012. But Joyce's favorite "job" was making memories with her granddaughters, Erin Louise (fiance' Alex Khafaji), Kristin Renee (spouse-Kendrick Johnson) and Emily Anne which included many trips to Florida and Branson, Missouri. Joyce was an avid reader and a season ticket holder for Ryan High School and Guyer High School football teams. Everyone who knew Joyce remembers her sweet spirit. She was a woman of deep faith, loved the Lord, was kind and patient, and above all else loved her family unconditionally. She is survived by a brother Richard Keener (spouse-Sally) Sister-in-law Janet Keener and one niece and two nephews. Joyce is preceded in death by brothers Rex C. Keener, Gary M. Keener and three nieces.
