IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joyce Stiles
Snider
January 25, 1929 – July 27, 2017
Joyce Stiles Snider passed from life into heaven on July 27, 2017, surrounded by loving family. Joyce was born to Hazel Vaughan Stiles and Edwin B. Stiles, Sr. at the family farm in Pilot Point, TX on January 25, 1929.
She attended Friendship and Pilot Point schools, graduating in 1946. Following graduation, Joyce had the opportunity to attend the University of Washington, at the invitation of her beloved aunt; but opted to stay close to home at the urging of her parents, working at Kimbell Milling in Denton, TX as Office Manager.
After a 6 month courtship, she and Bennie Gabe Snider were married in 1950 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Pilot Point. This love affair lasted 66 years, and was filled with love and devotion to each other. The blessings continued with the birth of Craig in 1954, Leia in 1957, and Kim in 1959.
Joyce was involved in all types of activities with the children during their school years. Although Joyce was a stay at home mom, she was involved in church, community and U.N.T. and T.W.U. activities. She served as a Stephen minister to people needing a friend for several years. Joyce helped to coordinate activities for the Bang Phi family as they relocated to Denton from Vietnam. She was active in the Rotary Exchange Program supporting students from Japan and Taiwan.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Bennie Gabe, son Craig and wife Michele, daughters, Leia and Kim. She had 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Edwin, Jr. and Troy.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, Aug 1, at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Denton, with Reverend Jim Porter and Reverend Jonathan Perry officiating.
