Joyce Faye Wilson passed away peacefully in Lantana, TX surrounded by family on May 16th, 2024. Faye was born in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Silas and Monnie Kirby on March 30, 1934. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1951. Faye married Ernest Wilson on June 26, 1954 in Marrietta, Oklahoma. They were married 38 years and they had two daughters, Marilyn and Terri. Ernest preceded her in death on April 27, 1992.

Faye had several priorities over the 90 years of her life, but her faith in God and love of family and friends was her prevailing way of life. She was a 60 year resident of Denton County and marked 58 years in Shady Shores, Texas. During her time there she owned and operated a home day care center for 40 years and nurtured many babies and children through their early years. Many of those children remained in touch with her until the end of her life. Even though God and family were her first priority, these children also held a special place in her heart. She also enjoyed many friendships over the years, but most dear to her were her neighbors who looked out for her and faithfully supported her.

Faye is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Derryberry and husband, Benjamin Derryberry, of Lantana, TX and Terri Barefield and husband, David Barefield, of Atlanta, GA. She is survived by two grandchildren, Candice Rivera of Denton, TX and Travis Gibson of Cleveland, TN and two great-grandchildren, Katelin Gibson of Denton, TX and Hunter Staton of Denton, TX. She is survived by her siblings, Ken Kirby of Shawnee, OK and Peggy Johnson of Yukon, OK.

Faye was also preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Monnie Kirby, Brother Thomas Kirby and Sisters Jean Clausen and Linda Kay Taylor.

The family will receive loved ones and friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Wednesday May 22nd, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 23rd, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, OK.
