Juan Andres "Ricky" Fermin, 50, of Sanger, TX passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Medical City Hospital-Denton.  Ricky was born in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic on July 12, 1971 to Rosa M. Martinez and Andres Fermin. He migrated to the US in 1983 at the age of 12. While initially attending Passaic High School his strength and physique dominated the wrestling team. He mastered the English language in less than a year and later went to Manalapan High School where he received his diploma. Instead of becoming an outcast or feeling uncomfortable with being one of the few Latinos in that developing area, Ricky became the "DUDE" that everyone wanted to be like and hang around with. His love for heavy metal music and his native bachata, tattoos and long hair made him stand out in a unique way. He had a rock star-like quality and cool swagger that attracted people, especially all the neighborhood kids. Ricky definitely had the "Juan effect." He had a wonderful spirit and exuded the best energy.

As a young adult, Ricky attended Monmouth County Vocational School and eventually received his plumbing license in Austin, Texas where he attained expert-level proficiency in his trade as a Journeyman Plumber. His innate dexterous abilities led him to become a highly skilled carpenter/contractor and mechanic. His last employment was with Denton County.

No matter where Ricky found himself - one thing is certain he never forgot his roots or family. He often stopped by his mother's work, to "ask a question," although they both knew it was because he couldn't stand to be apart from her for too long; he was never shy about openly expressing his love for her. On phone calls with family, Ricky always made it a point to ask for everyone, especially his beloved "Guelita," "La Tia," aunts and cousins. His conversations ended with an "I love and miss you all," a reflection of his kindred and caring spirit.

Ricky will be especially remembered for his beautiful infectious smile and laughter, his loveable and caring ways, wonderful sense of humor, and reputation for giving the best hugs accompanied by little pinches (bites) on the cheek. Above all, Ricky will be remembered for his handsome face, those gorgeous hazel eyes that spoke depths of his loving soul, and the wonderful caring son, father, and brother he was.

Our beloved Ricky has been reunited with his friends and family on the other side whom he cherished and missed deeply.

Ricky is survived by his mother Rosa M. Escala, his two sons Christian and Gabriel Fermin, brother Robert Fermin, sister Jacqueline Escala, niece, nephews, and countless other friends and family who loved him deeply.

Viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021 followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father Tim Thompson at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Juan Andres "Ricky" Fermin, de 50 años, residente de Sanger, Texas falleció el jueves 23 de septiembre del 2021 en el Hospital Medical City de Denton. Ricky nació el 12 de julio de 1971 en Santiago de los Caballeros, República Dominicana, hijo de Rosa M. Martinez y Andres Fermín. Él llegó a los Estados Unidos en 1983 a la edad de 12 años. Cuando inició sus estudios en la escuela secundaria de Passaic, con su fuerza y físico dominó el equipo de lucha libre. En menos de un año dominó plenamente el inglés, y posteriormente atendió la escuela secundaria en Manalapan donde recibió su diploma. En lugar de sentirse fuera de sitio por ser de la minoría de latinos en el área, Ricky se convirtió en "el muchacho" que todos querían imitar o compartir su tiempo con él. Su amor por el Rock pesado y la bachata, los tatuajes y el pelo largo lo hicieron sobresalir de manera única. Con su estilo de roquero y su carisma atraía a las personas, en especial los niños del vecindario. Tenía un gran espíritu y emanaba una energía maravillosa.

Posteriormente Ricky asistió a la Escuela Vacacional del Condado de Monmouth, de donde recibió su licencia de plomero en Austin Texas. Alcanzó un nivel de excelencia en esta profesión. Su innata habilidad con las manos lo llevaron a convertirse en un excelente carpintero/contratista y mecánico. Su último empleo fue en el Condado de Denton.

Sin importar donde se encontrara, nunca olvidó sus raíces o su familia. A menudo visitaba a su madre en el trabajo con cualquier excusa, solo para verla y jamás sintió pena de expresar públicamente su amor por ella. Cuando llamaba a su familia, siempre preguntaba por todos pero en especial por su querida "Guelita", "La Tía", tías y primos. Sus conversaciones terminaban con un "te quiero y te extraño" que reflejaban su profundo amor y preocupación por todos.

Ricky será especialmente recordado por su linda y contagiosa sonrisa, sus carcajadas, su maravilloso sentido del humor y por dar los mejores abrazos acompañados de mordisquitos en el cachete. Pero sobre todo, Ricky será recordado por ser guapo con sus hermosos ojos color avellana, que dejaban ver su alma extraordinaria y el maravilloso hijo, hermano y padre que fué.

Nuestro amado Ricky se ha reunido felizmente con amigos y familiares que ya no están con nosotros.

Sobreviven a Ricky su madre Rosa M. Escala, sus dos hijos Christian y Gabriel Fermin, su hermano Robert Fermin, su hermana Jacqueline Escala, sobrina, sobrinos, y demás amigos y familiares quienes lo amaban profundamente.

La velación será a las 10:00 a.m. el martes 28 de septiembre del 2021 seguida por una misa fúnebre a las 11:00 a.m. oficiada por el Padre Tim Thompson en la Iglesia Católica Inmaculada Concepción.
