Juan Silva Sr., 57, was called home to heaven the morning of June 10, 2016, at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that were touched by Juan's kindness throughout the years.
He was born on October 19, 1958 in Rio Hondo, Texas, to parents, Jose Torres Silva, Sr. and Maria De Jesus Silva. On November 6, 1975, he married his childhood love, Karen O'Dell, in Denton, Texas, who survives her husband after 40 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Juan Silva, Jr. and wife Rachel, daughter, Yolanda Silva and fiancé Brian, and grandchildren AJ and Candis Silva, Chandler and Matt Powell, and Emily and Nolan McGovern. Additionally, Juan is survived by siblings Maria De Jesus Soward and husband Mason, Jose Silva, Jr. and wife Otilia, Joel Silva, Maria Lacey, Mirelda Trevino and husband Manuel, Melva Kunkle and husband Bob, Jorge Silva, Marinda Lynn and husband Burt, Jaime Silva and wife Shelia, Melinda Godoy and husband Ray, Maricela Ross, Javier Silva and wife Laura, Marina Silva, Jerry Silva and wife Rhonda, 46 nieces and nephews, and many additional extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Silva, his sister Minerva Silva, two infant siblings, his grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
Juan worked as a Material Expeditor for nearly 40 years with Peerless Manufacturing. He had a passion for sports, corvettes, keeping everyone laughing with jokes and stories, and wearing his sunglasses even when indoors. He loved life and traveled with his wife and family to several states, creating lifelong memories for everyone. Juan was admired for his dedication to others and could always be found at sporting events supporting his son, grandchildren, or the children of family friends. When he wasn't at a live sporting event, he could be found watching the Dallas Cowboys (even when the team was doing poorly), or any sport he could find on TV. He was generous and giving, never unwilling to help someone in need, and it was his warm and caring heart that made such an impact on so many during his short time on this earth.
