With profound sadness we announce the passing of Judy, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. If you knew her, you loved her.
Judy passed away peacefully in her home in Denton, Texas on December 5, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving husband, children, and family. Judy was born on April 22, 1940, in Caribou, Aroostook County, Maine.
She graduated from Caribou HS in 1959 and met and married the love of her life, Max Kelley Garrett, Jr, in Caribou while Max was serving in the Air Force (20 years retired MSGT).
Due to military life, Judy and Max (plus four highly spirited kids) had an adventurous life and lived in multiple places including Okinawa, Maine, Florida, California, Nebraska, Arizona but decided to make Denton, Texas their home in 1989. Judy retired from North Texas State/UNT in March 2006.
Judy was ever the explorer. She loved camping, attending parties, family reunions- anything involving the gathering of people. She loved to play games with her grandchildren, sewing, and being with her friends. Judy was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved her family deeply, but the love of her life was her husband Max of 61 years.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; Lucille Olson Hedman and Louise Phillip Bouchard; brothers Robert P. Bouchard and David L. Bouchard; sisters-in-law Patricia "Pat" Dering and Doris "Nan" Hawes; brothers-in-law Bill Dering and Keith Baldwin.
She is survived by her husband Max K. Garrett Jr., sons Max K. Garrett III (wife-Marla) and Shim Garrett; daughters Lori Garrett and Kim Cann and Judy's beloved sister Joyce White (husband- Jim).
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hayden Garrett Jr., Yateman "YJ" Garrett, Morgan Hill, Lorin Bisig (husband- Chase), Emily Cann (Eric Luna) and great granddaughter Brooke Luna and numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy is additionally survived by sisters-in-law Bernadette "Bernie" Bouchard (husband- Bob), Fern Bouchard (husband- Dave), and Linda Baldwin (husband Keith); and brothers-in-law Jim White (wife-Joyce) and Roy Hawes (wife-Nan).
Services will be held at St Andrew Presbyterian Church, Denton, Texas on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 1:00.
