Julia Jean Derden, 93, of Denton passed away on February 6, 2023. She was born in Desdemona, Tx., on March 10, 1929 to Preston and Verda Mae (Hammett) Henry.

She graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1947. She married Bill Derden in 1948. She retired from Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator after 25 years of service. She loved playing piano for church, family, and friends and passed her love of music on to her family.

She is survived by her 2 sons & their spouses, Gary & Janet Derden of Denton, Lynn & Carol Derden of Deming, New Mexico, Grandsons Jason Derden of Ponder, Chad Derden of Lake Dallas, Jonathan Derden of Ft.Worth and granddaughter, Carolyn Derden of  Deming New Mexico.  She also is survived by 9 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great, Great Grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Derden, her mother and father, Verda Mae and Preston Henry, and 2 sisters, Barbara Brunson, and Loretta Ramsey.

A graveside service will be held at Forreston Cemetery in Forreston, Tx. On Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Hickory Creek Baptist Church Denton, Tx on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00 am.
