Julia Anne Shaw, M.D. 51 of Corinth, Texas passed away Monday, October 24, 2022. She was born in Webb City, Missouri January 31, 1971. She attended Greenwood Laboratory School, Southwest Missouri State University, graduating 5/18/89, as Salutatorian. Julia was active in multiple pursuits including cheerleading, dance, drum corp, and student council. In addition, she had many lead parts in productions and received multiple awards.
After high school, she was accepted to the prestigious University of Missouri Kansas City 6 year medical program, where she received her MD degree in 1995. Julia also received her Masters in Business Administration from the Isenberg School of Management in 2009.
She completed her Ob/Gyn residency at The University of Oklahoma-Tulsa in 1999. She then accepted a position as Medical Director, University of Oklahoma, OU Physicians Women's Clinic-Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as Director, OU Contraception Center, University of Oklahoma College of Medicine-Tulsa, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Julia went on to become the Medical Director, Yale New-Haven Hospital, Women's Center, New Haven, CT. She was also named Residency Program Director, Department of OB/GYN, Yale School of Medicine New Haven, CT. There she won multiple awards including the Nathan Kase Award for excellence as a teacher, counselor and friend by a University attending (twice) and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education.
She was an invited speaker locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Julia was currently serving as Medical Director of Humana of Texas. Here she reviewed health claims to ensure quality of care for patients and their families.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Howard A. Shaw, MD; mother, Gwen Borders; father-in-law, Duane Shaw; brother-in-law, Danny Shaw; sons: Howard Shaw, II (Jennifer); Brandon Shaw (Jillian); James Shaw (Samantha); and Robert Shaw (Sierra); three grandchildren, Evie Shaw, Prescott Shaw, Penelope Shaw, with another precious one due soon; uncle, Carl Vance; aunt, Shirley Sade-Vance; uncle and aunt, Don and Darlene McCracken, Paul and Susie Nease; and 9 cousins.
Julia was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herbert & Alline Vance; father, Roger Borders; infant son, Remington Shaw; mother-in-law, Ola Shaw; uncle, Ron Vance; aunt, Peggy Vance.
