June Marie Kirkpatrick, 79, of Denton and previously a longtime resident of Irving, Texas, died Thursday, October 12, 2017. She was born June 20, 1938 in Washington County, Arkansas to Rollin and Rena Marie (Hale) Johnston and later adopted by her father, Thomas Harold Gary.
She graduated from Texas High School and married James Buck Kirkpatrick on June 1, 1957 in Texarkana, Texas. She attended North Texas State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Master's Degree in Public School Administration. She is a retired elementary school teacher and taught at Thomas Haley and TJ Lee Elementary schools in Irving, Texas. She was a member of St. David of Wales Episcopal Church in Denton, Texas.
June is preceded in death by her husband James Buck Kirkpatrick and son Dr. Keith Perry Kirkpatrick. She is survived by daughter, Marilyn Kay Weintraub, son Dr. Kenneth Thompson Kirkpatrick and his wife Cris; brothers Randall Ellis Gary and wife Carolyn and Thomas Harold Gary and wife Olivia; grandchildren Thomas Kirkpatrick, Anthony Kirkpatrick and wife Nichole, Bianca Kirkpatrick, Connor Kirkpatrick and Julianne Weintraub and one great grandchild, Nevin Kirkpatrick.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 16, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Saint David's Episcopal Church in Denton, Texas. Entombment will follow at Bishop Mason Mausoleum and Columbarium in Flower Mound.
June was a lover of all animals, especially dogs, and was a supporter of the Humane Society. Memorials may be made to The Humane Society, Alzheimer's Association or St. David's Episcopal Church in Denton.
