Juneita Ramonia "Mona" Rhoads Bridges passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2016. She was born in Green Valley, TX to Walter Merle and Mildred Milne Rhoads (Godi).
She attended the Green Valley School and graduated from Denton High School in 1954. She graduated from Brantley-Draughon Business College in Ft. Worth with her life - long best friend Margie Hoskins. She met her husband on the bus traveling to Ft. Worth for college. Mona and Weldon Bridges, who survives her, were married in July, 1956 and just celebrated their 60th anniversary with a Mexican Dinner. She was an Air Force wife and moved to Tennessee for a bit before returning to Texas. They made their home in Frisco, Texas then moved to Denton in 1968.
Mona and Weldon enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, Margie and Jim. She enjoyed an annual vacation to Hiedelberg Lodge in New Braunfels, TX with her children and grandchildren since 1970. Mona loved to travel and the family frequently went on trips across country in their camper. She and Weldon also loved traveling to the North-Eastern coast and made several trips to Chatham, Massachusetts and Bar Harbour, Maine, her favorite places to enjoy the fall foliage.
Mona had two children, a daughter, Jennifer Bridges of Denton, TX and a son Greg Bridges. She has 3 grandchildren Amberlyn (Stinchcomb) Sanders and husband Calvin, Autumn Stinchcomb and Adam Stinchcomb. She loved being able to see her great grandchildren Keegan Stinchcomb, Addilyn Sanders and Landon Stinchcomb play at her house. Mona also leaves behind a sister Joyce Lowry of Sherman, and Roy Godi, Jr, many nieces, nephews and other relatives that will miss her greatly.
She was a homemaker and loved to make things for her grandkids. She enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife in her back yard while drinking coffee. Mona was an animal lover and has 4 dog members of her family that will miss her, Bruiser, Foxy, Grace and Little Bit.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mildred Almitta Milne Godi, Roy F. Godi Sr., Walter Merle Rhoads and Pearl Springer Rhoads, and her son Greg Bridges.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 22, 2016 at DeBerry Funeral Directors. A funeral service is planned at DeBerry Funeral Directors Friday, September 23, 2016 at 2 pm. Pallbearers will be Ricky Cunningham, Russell Cunningham, Jon Rea, Garret Oehlschlager, Rickey Stinchcomb, and Calvin Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Garrett and Dalton Sanders. Burial will be at the Little Elm Cemetery.
