J.W. Shields Jr. passed away in Denton, Texas on August 3, 2022. He was born in Celina, Texas to James Willie and Dorothy (Harris) Shields on December 15, 1938. He attended Carrollton Public Schools and Irving High School.  He married Beth Sokora in Coppell, TX in 1966.

J.W. was a Machinest for Haliburton for 40 years, retiring in 2012, he and enjoyed hunting and watching westerns. And LOVED talking about food.

Visitation will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, also at DeBerry's with interment to follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas.

Pallbearers will be; J Tyler Shields, Dawson Shields, Jarren Shields, Cole Shields, Dwain Shields, Dugan Rainey.

J.W. is survived by his wife Beth Shields, sons, Michael Shields, P.J. and wife Jamie Shields, daughter in law, Kim Arbaugh, brother in law Tim Sokora, grandchildren, Madison, J. Tyler, Dawson and wife Emily, Cole, Jarren and Jentry.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son James Shields, brother Charles Shields and his brother in law Mark Perkins.
