Kacie Marie Herrington, a beautiful, beloved, and vibrant young lady, passed away on March 16, 2026, in Richardson, Texas. Born on November 22, 2002, in Dallas, Texas, Kacie brought light and joy to all who knew her during her brief but impactful life.

Kacie was a 2021 graduate of McKinney High School and recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Technical Animation and Special Effects from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her area of expertise, technical animation, was a testament to her dedication, grit, and passion for learning. She was a co-producer on her senior capstone project, a 4 minute animated feature that has been accepted to various animated film competitions across the country. She learned how to build her own computer and consistently sharpened her hardware skills. Knowing Kacie was knowing computers and animation.

Kacie loved music. She began singing as soon as she could talk, if not before. She could carry a tune as well as anyone, belting out contemporary hits whether she was in the shower, in a car, in choir, or on stage (karaoke or otherwise). As a toddler, she loved to bang out notes on the keyboard, eventually beginning formal lessons at age 10. She began working on the recorder in fourth grade, followed by the clarinet in the sixth grade. When she received her first clarinet, without instruction she figured out how to assemble it and squeaked out the notes to a song she had learned on the recorder. Over the years, she also made music with acoustic and electric guitar, ukulele, melodica, otamatone, and the slide whistle. Knowing Kacie was knowing music.

Kacie loved people. Early pictures of her preschool years show her standing with high school students as if she was one of them. She had no hesitation about speaking to Harley bikers who parked next to her grandparents’ van. Like most, she became more reserved as she grew older, but she was always a confidant and fierce supporter of her friends. Knowing Kacie was knowing a friend in the purest sense of the word.

Kacie’s days on this earth were far too few in number. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted parents, Stewart and Robin Herrington, who accompanied their “miracle baby” through each step of her life. She regularly referred to them as her “best” friends. Their unfailing love and support shaped Kacie into a remarkable young woman and their hearts now carry the profound sorrow of her passing far too soon.

Kacie loved and was loved by her extended family, including her aunts and uncles, Rhonda and Narciso Tovar, John and Carrie Pearson, Britt and Crystal Herrington, and Earl and Shannon Herrington. Though an only child, Kacie loved and was loved as a sibling by her cousins Katelyn, Will, and Grant Pearson, Hannah and Parker Lipetska, Jack, and Abby Herrington. Kacie was loved by numerous other extended family members, including Great-Aunts Sue Davis and Jody King. Knowing Kacie was knowing her family.

Kacie was preceded in passing by her grandparents and long-time Denton residents Ron and Sylvia Pearson and Glen and Mary Ann Herrington.

Kacie brought genuine warmth and sunshine to her family and a host of friends, and colleagues. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her time was too short, her broad legacy remains everlasting. Knowing Kacie was knowing Matthew 5:14-16.

A celebration of Kacie's life is slated for Saturday, March 21, from 4 to 6 pm at the Pearson family home in Denton. The celebration is preceded from 2 to 4 pm by a time of visitation hosted by DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W. University Drive in Denton. The family invites all who knew Kacie to cherish her memory and participate in either or both events in celebration of the beautiful impact she made in this world.
