Mary Karen Welborn Banks born in Denton, Texas in September of 1952 to Henry Welborn and Dorothy Jean Martin. Graduate of Denton High School, she attended Cooke County college, and later obtained a license as a registered nurse.

Karen loved a game of Skip-Bo and Bingo. You would find her enjoying her family with a cigarette and cup of warm coffee. Spending time with her grandpup Zeke and laughing with her duaghter were some of her best memories.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Jenifer Avants-Richards and her husband Shane, as well as Karen's son Derek and his wife Kristina.

She leaves to cherish her memory to her grandchildren; Micah, Halie, Mary Karen, Gage, Alexis, Preston, and Tatum, and great grandchildren; Kayden and Nevaeh., brother, James Welborn and his wife Linn, brother, Jeff Welborn and his wife Val, Casey Welborn and wife Tammy, and many nieces and nephews.

Let us remember always, the amazing daughter, mother, sister, granny, and friend that Karen was to us. She will forever be deeply missed.
