Karen Ann North passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 in Denton, Texas. She was born on July 29, 1951 to James and Mary Soukup and raised on their family farm near Spillville, Iowa. She graduated high school in 1969 and moved to Illinois where she later met and married Darrel North on January 16, 1971. In 1974 they moved to Texas and lived in Denton county ever since. After the birth of their two children, Karen started working in the insurance business in 1981. After working for three different agents, Karen opened Knorth Insurance Agency, first in Lewisville and later in Krum. Karen enjoyed family gatherings, card playing and going on cruises with friends. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, brother John and a niece and nephew Annette and Pete Kriener. Karen is survived by her husband Darrel and their son Daren (Amber), daughter Shonda (Scott) Walthall, two grandsons Jackson and Shane Walthall, sister Diane Kriener and brother Todd Soukup. A memorial service will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home at 10:00 AM, Sunday, October 8, 2023.
