Karen Marie
Wing
January 27, 1964 – August 13, 2018
For my sister who went to heaven today: God looked around his garden and found an empty place He then looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest With the help of his angels they flew you to your heavenly place Gods garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best He knew you were suffering, he knew you were in pain He knew that you would never get well on Earth again He saw the road was getting rough and the hills too hard to climb He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be Thine" It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone For part of us went with you the day God called you home.
"Keren Zippor Shir Wing was born Karen Marie Wing on January 27, 1964, the first and only daughter born to James and Deloris Wing. She weathered a long, difficult birth after which her mother hemorrhaged severely, but they both survived that trauma, and she grew up in a happy home with two loving parents and a brother, Alan.
She spent time on a farm near Rochester, MN, where her early years included a good dose of farm life and of riding the school bus. During her early years she displayed many talents and singing was one of her best. She played piano, violin and later the harp.
When her family moved to Texas in 1981, she was popular in her high school there, and became the reigning Miss Georgetown during her senior year, then on to greater things as she went on to college at Angelo State in San Angelo studying Mathematics and earning a bachelor's degree.
She met and married a talented young man, Ronald J Schwartz, and in Jan,1989, they were married in her dream setting at Calvary Temple in Dallas, TX.
Soon to them was born their first child, David, on Sept 10, 1990. All she ever wanted to do was to be a mom.
Karen bore five more children to her husband; Michael, Rebekah, Elizabeth, Rachel and Sarah.
She later married her high school sweetheart in 2010. But she then became ill – medullary thyroid cancer - a death sentence received in Jan 2012. Part of her treatment resulted in her being unable to speak. Through all of this the two young girls were faithful to care for their mother even when her illness made it particularly difficult on her, and on them.
At this time Keren felt the call to become a follower of Yeshua and began to practice the religion of the Israelites with fervor, believing that the Messiah, Yeshua, has come. She also met a special man, Gary Denton, who had recently lost his wife (Keren's friend) to cancer, and he became the male role model in the Jewish household that they promised to build together, and he took over her routine care and responsibilities as much as he could before they were married and took care of her during her terrible experiences with the disease.
On August 12, 2018, she held a birthday party for her daughter, Elizabeth, at our home in Texas. She was not able to participate much in the festivities. After the party each of the children went in to say good-bye to their mother - it turned out to be for the last time. At around 7 pm she began to choke on blood flowing from her esophagus and the ambulance was called. She arrived at the Denton Presbyterian Hospital and was admitted into the ICU and stabilized. About 1:40 am Monday August 13th Jim and Dee's little girl hemorrhaged one last time and went home to be with Yeshua who she loves, leaving her father, James, her mother, Deloris, a brother, Alan, and two grieving daughters, Sarah and Rachel, behind. Her second child, Michael, and third child, Elizabeth were there that day to say good-bye as well.
The day that Yeshua would call her is still heart-breaking as we realize that she will no longer be with us daily to share our lives and guide the lives of her little ones. Her body will decay in the grave – dust to dust – but her purpose, her faith and her strength given to her by her beloved Yeshua will live on in the lives of these children who bear the name Schwartz.
May God give rest to the lovely young woman who we loved so well for so long - now she no longer suffers and for that we are most grateful. We will see her again one day, too. The sorrow of her leaving us is almost too much to bear except for His promises! And we trust that His precious love will show us the way to help Keren's precious children to honor Him forever, Great is our God, Elohim – forever to be praised for His goodness!"
