IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karolyn Kay
Brown
August 13, 1941 – December 1, 2024
Karolyn Kay Brown (née Robertson) passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, at 9:37 a.m., with John Brown, her faithful husband of 64 years, by her side. She leaves behind a legacy of ceaseless love and commitment to her family that inspires all who were blessed to know her. Born on August 13, 1941, in Plainview, Texas, Kay was the youngest of four children born to Albert Henry ("Hop") and Eura Estelle Robertson. She grew up on a cotton farm in Floydada, Texas, with her older brother Bill and her sisters Dot and Sue. Kay's sisters were her best friends, and some of her favorite memories came from their travels together.
Kay received Christ at an early age, inspired by the incredible faith and example of her mother. Despite enduring many physical ailments throughout her life, Kay remained joyful and loving. Her perseverance amidst suffering was an example to us all.
At the age of 18, Kay married her Floydada High School classmate, John Brown. Their marriage was adventurous from the very beginning, as they were married at 6 a.m. to get a head start on their honeymoon. Over the years, their journey together took them to 6 states, and they moved 22 times. John was an entrepreneur who spent countless hours building a successful business, and Kay supported him with incredible dedication, selflessness, and sacrifice.
Kay was an incredible mother to their three sons, John, David, and Bill. The depth of her love and sacrifice for her boys cannot be measured. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family, as she made her home a warm and welcoming haven for all of her son's friends. Many have fond memories of "Mama Brown's" endless hospitality, her ability to make everyone feel loved, and the countless meals she cooked with joy and care.
Kay's greatest treasures were her eight grandchildren—Brooke, Jessica, Rachel, Michael, Drew, Austin, Evan, and Brady. They were the "apples of her eye" and remained ever-present in her heart. She also absolutely adored her dog, Lily, and received immense joy from the music of the Bee Gees.
Her extraordinary capacity for love and selflessness touched everyone she knew. Kay loved the people in her life so well that her care and kindness became a defining part of who she was.
A celebration of Kay's life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Denia Community Church, located in the Denton Baptist Temple building.
