Obituary

Kathleen Marie Francis was called home to Heaven on Saturday, April 26, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1957, to Ray and Helen Bryan in Wyandotte, MI. She spent most of her childhood as a missionary kid in the Philippines.

Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Texas to attend college in Abilene but soon felt led to join a Christian ministry called the Fatted Calf in Valley View, TX. Her husband would say this is where they met, while she would argue they met at a shop in Saint Jo, TX, where his mom worked (the debate lives on). On August 24, 1980 (the hottest summer on Texas record), she married Wayne C. Francis in an outdoor ceremony at the Thomas Ranch in Saint Jo, TX.

Throughout her life, Kathleen worked many miscellaneous jobs, earned degrees in dress making and business, served faithfully in the church, mastered the art of home making, homeschooled two children, and became a fine quilter and long-time member of the Denton Quilt Guild. In 1999, alongside her business partner and dear friend Matt Fairchild, she established Extreme Cuisine Catering, one of the most reputable catering companies in Denton County and the surrounding area.

"Chef K" took great pride not only in the excellent standard of food service ECC provides, but in the countless lives that were positively impacted working in the kitchen. She was a true embodiment of Jesus' call to "…love one another. Just as [He has] loved you." (John 13:34) Of her profound legacy,

Kathleen would be quick to tell you her greatest is the family she and Wayne cultivated for over 38 years. In her last months, she often expressed that her greatest gifts were her children and grandchildren.

Kathleen is survived by her husband of 44 years, Wayne Francis, children Renee & Michael Allan and Ryan & Hannah Francis, grandchildren Jaden & Trenten Allan, sister Barbara Hays (Steve), brother Howard Bryan (Beverly), and sister Katherine Malmberg (Carl). She was preceded in death by her parents.
