Obituary

Kelly Gene Butler was a wonderful, honest and passionate man. His true passion was baseball, from little league to high school, to coaching a son of his own. After the many years of playing the game, he coached many magnificent teams and was the president of Denton Boys Baseball Inc. His vast knowledge of the game was taught to many young men of Denton, TX and throughout the nation. He coached with passion, respect and class and made the game great for the players that had the opportunity to stand on the diamond with him. He was loved and respected by many. His wonderful personality and ability to talk to people made him succeed in life every day. His thought was "Be pleased with yourself at the end of the day when you look at yourself in the mirror." Those were the words he lived by and he taught his children to live life the same way. After he graduated Sherman High School in 1984 he started living his life the way he believed. Sylvia Galindo of Denton became his life. On October 3, 1987, she became his "life-long" partner. During their marriage they had two beautiful children together, Tucker Blake Butler of Denton and Mercedes Breeann Butler of Denton. After him and Sylvia divorced, Kelly always made sure the kids were loved and cared for. To this day both kids live by the wonderful values he made sure they lived by.

He is survived by his parents Danny and Betty Butler of Sherman; his sister Danyne Montgomery of Sherman; his nephew Keith Montgomery and wife Ginger of Savoy; niece Tamela Reyes and husband Marcos of Josephine; his uncle George Drake and wife Jean of Canton; his aunt Linda Leineweber and husband Clyde of Sherman; his 2 cousins Daryl Drake of Crowley and Amy Drake of Richmond, VA.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held for his wonderful friends and family Saturday March 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at the DeBerry Funeral Home 2025 W. University Dr. Denton, TX.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
